About the ABS system on your car
The Antilock Brake Skid system or the ABS maintains the control and directional stability of your car in case of extreme braking circumstances. The ABS system controls the rotational speed of every wheel and meters the brake line pressure at the time of skid braking, given the driver greater control and significantly reducing the chance or severity of an accident.Many technological advances have been made in recent years with the role of ABS increasing to support other features such as electronic stability control, brake assist, and traction control. Sensors have been added to the system such as a steering wheel angle sensor (to measure the direction of the steering wheel) and gyroscopic sensor (to measure the direction of the car). The steering wheel sensor assists the ABS system control the outer wheels to have an increased braking effect when compared to the inner wheels on the curve. A dedicated sensor is located on each wheel that sends an electronic signal to the ABS controller and determines the rotational speed of the wheel.
