About the distributor on your car
The distributor is the mechanism in the ignition system that sends the spark (electrical current) from the ignition coil to each spark plug via leads (wires) in the correct firing order.
If your car is running rough, misfiring, has as sudden decrease in fuel efficiency or increase in fuel consumption, is hard to or does not start, you should have your car checked.
